irenicon-employment-law-brandedIf you are running a standard business with standard staff then a standard ‘contract’ may work for you.  Employment law is often approached as if contracts of employment are simply about compliance.  A simple standard contract works for a simple standard business.

There is really no such thing.  If you just take a copy of a contract issued by a company you used to work for and give it to your staff you will quickly find you don’t have the organisational structure to make that contract work for you.

Walking a mile in someone else’s shoes may do wonders for your understanding of their life, but doing the same in their contractual shoes will normally turn out badly.  Employment law is about so much more than compliance (and making you walk in the wrong shoes)
